This is my story about leaving academia, building a career with my PhD, and what I’ve learned about life along the way.
Building a new life after a PhD is complicated. In many cases it means mourning the life you thought you’d have (in academia), dealing with disappointment, and opening your eyes for the first time to the possibilities before you. It means reinventing who you are and how you relate to the world, and rediscovering what your impact will be.
This is my story. I hope it helps you to write yours.
"Critical and empowering guidance for grad students at a time where career opportunities in academia seem to be narrowing further and further. Highly recommend!"
"Inspiring book! Chris' writing has been so helpful in my post-PhD life! Wish I had read it sooner!"
MUST READ for current/prospective/post-PhDs! Chris provides a really important understanding of the current state of academia, the (dismal) place of PhDs within it, and hope for what can lay beyond.
